Преподобный Трифон Печенгский, апостол лопарей = The venerable Tryphon of Pechenga, apostle of the lapps = Pyhittäjä Trifon Petsamolainen, saamelaisten valistaja = Den aerverdige Trifon av Petsjenga, samenes apostel / [под редакцией епископа Митрофана (Баданина)]. - Санкт-Петербург ; Североморск : Ладан, 2017. - 44, [1] с.

20 A Short Hagiography o f the Venerable Ttyphon vant to look after a boyar’s children. When he grew a little older, he decided to pursue the path o f military service. The young Mitrofan’s subsequent fate can serve as an example to us o f how indulging one’s passions and lusts de stroys a person’s soul and propels him down the route to destruction. Quite soon the name o f Mitrofan, the terrify ing head o f a gang o f robbers, was horri fying the inhabitants o f the Finnish bor derland and causing the “Kajaani Ger mans” from the settlements near the Kajaani Sea (the Gulf o f Bothnia) to tremble. The outcome was that “he robbed and ruined many people on the border and shed much blood”1. But the Lord did not abandon Mitrofan. Following the acciden tal murder o f the boyar’s daughter, Elena, with whom he was pas sionately in love, Mitrofan suffered a profound shock and forsook his accomplices to go to “the end o f the earth” — “to the shore o f the great ocean-sea, to a p a rt o f the Norwegian land, to the Kola district , to the Pechenga River ; among the Lappish people". There, with a contrite heart, he condemned himself to wander for five years without shelter through the wild, uninhabited deserts o f the Far North, subjecting his sinful body to terrible ordeals and exhausting and tormenting it with hunger, cold, heat, midges, the daily threat o f death from wild beasts and everything else that is so 1From the account of his life by the Venerable Tryphon to the traveller Simon van Saiin- gen: A.M.
