increased by 66% - 6409 = 287 people, the volume of commercial production decreased by 237.3 - 233.5 = 3.3 million roubles. Figuratively speaking, for “Sevrybkholodflot” it was “a year reversed” as compared to the general laws of development of industry. This is how the submatrix for 1988 looks like: % * 2 ' 1988 '95.22 93.69' li y 2 = 100.16 94.32 u 1987 ч95.07 99.33, The data of this submatrix are given in Fig. 7. The area of the large rectangle (X 2 in the submatrix), denoted by the dash line, is smaller than that of the rectangle denoted by the solid line (X \ in the submatrix). The area of the upper hatched rectangle is larger than that of the right hatched rectangle: 95.07 x (100.16 - 94.32) = 555.2, 94.32 x (99.33 - 95.07) = 401.8. The loss due to a decrease in labor productivity proved to be greater than the increment of the production due to the addition of 287 workers. We can find the loss of production due to the lowering of labor productivity (see Fig. 7) from the formula £lab.prod. = Z i ( y i - y 2) = -5.55%. The increment of production at the expense of the use of additional manpower (see Graph 3) can be found from the formula W p e r . = l,2(Z2 - Z i) = 4.02%. The difference between tiab.prod. and /num.per. = -5-55 + 4.02 = -1.53. The loss of production according to the data of the submatrix in percent is X i - X 2 * 95.22 - 93.69 = 1.53. In the current year, the factors that caused a decrease in the volume of production in the preceding year became more pronounced. The strict dependence on the deteriorating situation in the fisheries is intensified by the poor organization of production and labor. Under the conditions of the economic reform, for the enterprises whose production is in infinite demand, the increase in the number of personnel and their wages, the decrease in labor productivity and the deterioration of the quality of production mean bankruptcy if the enterprise is self-sustained and self-financed. Without budgetary subsidies and at low wholesale prices such an enterprise will not find sources for the renovation of the capital assets, for the formation of funds of social and cultural development and the stimulation fund. It stands to reason that, under these conditions, some wholesale prices must be raised for the production 9 0
