A.A. Oleinik PHYTOPLANKTON SPECIES FROM THE COASTAL WATERS OF FRANZ JOSEF LAND A list of phytoplankton species recorded in the coastal and internal waters of Franz Josef Land is compiled. In all, 153 species are listed, 8 rare and little-known species, namely Attheya longicornis, Synedropsis hyperborea aff., Dicroerisma psilonereiella, Dinophysis contracta, Lessardia elongata, Oxytoxum caudatum, Micracanthodinium claytonii, and Protoperidinium arcticum, are illustrated by photomicrographs. Keywords: phytoplankton, Franz Josef Land. Author Oleinik Anatoly Anatolievich - Ph.D. (Biol), Deputy Head of the Plankton Laboratory, MMBI KSC RAS; e-mail: oleinik@mmbi.info LITERATURA 1. Dvoretsky CONTRIBUTION OF SCIENTISTS FROM MURMANSK MARINE BIOLOGICAL INSTITUTE TO STUDIES OF RED KING CRAB IN THE BARENTS SEA Red king crab is an important commercial species. Studies of this invader accomplished by scientists of the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute are focused on the investigations of its population dynamics in the coastal Barents Sea. We have developed a new growth model for juvenile crab. Symbiotic and fouling organisms colonizing the crab were studied. Red king crab physiology and aquaculture approaches have been investigated and developed in many aspects. A new method for undertaking the biological expertise on red king crab was developed and adopted. Keywords: red king crab, population dynamics, growth, symbionts, physiology, the Barents Sea.
