CONTENTS V.K. Zhirov CONNECTION OF TIMES. TO THE 80 th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AVRORIN’S POLAR ALPINE BOTANICAL GARDEN & INSTITUTE The N.A. Avrorin Polar Alpine Botanical Garden & Institute of the Kola Science Center, Russian Academy of Sciece is situated close to Khibiny mountains in Kola Pns. PABGI is the northernmost botanical garden in Russia, and the first of three botanical gardens in the world above the Arctic Circle. In 2011st the 80th Anniversary of PABGI is celebrated. Keywords: botanical garden, retrospection, scientific directions, plant collections. E.A. Svyatkovskaya, N.N. Trostenjuk, O.B. Gontar ORNAMENTAL EXPOSITIONS OF THE POLAR AND ALPINE BOTANICAL GARDEN & INSTITUTE: HISTORY AND PRESENT TIME The history of ornamental composition in the PABGI territories are in the article. Projects of new expositions are given. Keywords: decorative compositions, exhibit, flower garden, planning, logging, herbaceous plants. N.A. Konstantinova, O.A.Belkina, E.A. Borovichev, D.A.Davydov, T.P. Drugova, V.A.Kostina, L.A. Konoreva, N.E. Koroleva, A.V. Melekhin, A.N. Savchenko INVESTIGATIONS OF THE LABORATORY OF FLORA AND VEGETATION DURING THE FIRST DECADE OF TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY Modern activities of the Laboratory of Flora and Vegetation Resources is concentrated on study of diversity of vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens and cyanoprocaryota both of European part of Arctic and Subarctic including Murmansk Province and Svalbard and Russia as a whole including Caucasus and Ural Mountains, Baikal area, Far East, central part of European Russia etc. As result new for Russia and Svalbard species were found. Knowledge on diversity of studied groups for different provinces and republics of Russia especially Murmansk Province was greatly enlarged. Distribution and ecology were specified for many species. Antropogenic transformation of flora and vegetation is permanently in the focus of laboratory study. Flora of vascular plants and moss flora of 6 cities were studied and analyzed. The important direction of study is compiling of Red Dada Books. Lists of species and outlines of many species were prepared for Red Data Book of Russia Red Data Books of 10 Provinces of Russia including Murmansk Province. Special attention is paid to dissemination and sharing of environmental and biological knowledge by means of science fictions papers and books. Keywords: biodiversity, vascular plants, mosses, liverworts, lichens, cyanoprocaryotes, Red Data Books, Spitsbergen, Murmansk Region, European Arctic Russia. P.A. Kashulin, N.V. Kalachyova AGE DEPENDENT CHANGES IN SCOTCH PINE PHOTOSYNTHETIC COMPETENCE The age dependent alternations in physiological competence of photosynthetic apparatus (PA) in the resident Scotch pine Pinus sylvestris subsp. Lapponica ecotypes was studied in terms of pulse- amplitude modulated fluorescent spectrometry. The own and induced with red LED 218 ^E PPFD fluorescence in native pine needles was detected with PIN-photodiode of PAM-2100 design “Heinz Walz” GmbH fluorometer. The comparative study of native needle light curves for 8 yr and 72 yr old pine trees reveals only minor abatem ent in electron transport rate in PS II of chloroplasts. The PS II quanta yield in juvenile and old needles of a single old tree show only slight starting difference upon kinetic induction curves. But needle sam p les of 8 yr and 72 yr tree s show pronounced qualitative change in energy utilization and it various forms partition. The photochemical conversion prevailed in PA of yang tree needles. In contrast a regulated nonphotochemical utilization of excess energy and photoprotective reactions dominated in old tree needles. The last have had lower level of irreversible heat dissipation also and seem s to be more effective a s whole effect energy convertor. Keywords: photosynthesis, pine Pinus sylvestris, age, senescence, fluorescent PAM spectroscopy. A.A. Vilnet, N.A. Konstantinova MOLECULAR PHYLOGENETIC STUDIES - A NEW APPROACH TO SYSTEMATICS OF LIVERWORTS There is a short review of current state of liverworts molecular phylogenetic studies. The results of phylogenetic and taxonomical studies of leafy liverworts from suborders Cephaloziineae and Jungermaniineae based on analyses of internal transcribed sp acer ITS1-2 of nuclear rDNA and chloroplast trnL-F were discussed. 106
