Участие в Генеральной ассамблее-2010 по­ зволило сотрудникам Института представить результаты исследований и обсудить их с зару­ бежными коллегами, занимающимися анало­ гичными научными вопросами. Мы встретились со старыми знакомыми, в частности, Дж. Ладде- ном, директором Геологической службы Англии, и его супругой С. Деленициной, много лет работав­ шей в нашем Институте. Познакомились с проф. Д. ван Реененом из Йоханнесбурга, большим дру­ гом Л.Л. Перчука, памяти которого была посвяще­ на секция «Взаимодействие магматизма, метамор­ физма и геодинамики». Работой нашей лабо­ ратории очень заинтересовались геохронологи Т. Мейзель (Австрия) и Я. Капуста (Аналитиче­ ская лаборатория Торонто). К сожалению, нам не повезло с погодой: поч­ ти всё время шли дожди, что, впрочем, не поме­ шало нам вдоволь надышаться австрийским воз­ духом на улицах прекрасной Вены. Т.В. Каулина, к.г.-м.н. Фото авт ора ДЕНЬ ГЕОЛОГА-2010 GEOLOGIST'S DAY-2010 The Geologist's Day was established with the assignment o f the Presidium o f USSR Supreme Soviet o f March 31, 1966 after the respective appeal of a group o f geologists headed by Academician A.L. Yanshin. On April 1, 1966 the assignment was published in the «Izvestya» newspaper (Fig.). The appeal was motivated by the discovery o f the West Siberian oil-and-gas province. Kola geologists greatly contributed to the mineralogical treasury of the country and joined the Geologist's Day celebrations with all their right, endowing it with the Northernflavour. The Geological Institute KSC RAS annually celebrates the holiday in the country amidst lots of snow, when the spring is only about to come. Sometimes we are lucky with the weather, sometimes we are not, but the celebrations are always held in high spirits, for it opens a new geological year. In 2009 we set a new tradition of providing the Geologist's Day with a conference on cross-border cooperation. Our colleagues from the Geological Survey o f Finland (R. Pietila, M. Iljina, J. Pihlaja) and University o f Helsinki (Prof. T. Ramo) took an active part in it. The conference ofApril 5, 2010 was under the banner o f sustainable development and international cooperation. The program included 12 reports on results and perspectives of collaboration with geological organizations o f Bulgaria (Cand.Sci. (Geol.-mineral.) L.M. Lyalina), India (Cand.Sci. (Geol.-mineral.) T.V. Kaulina), China (Cand.Sci. (Geol.-mineral.)Yu.N. Neradovsky), Norway (Prof. K. Kullerud, Cand.Sci. (Geol.-mineral.) D.M. Zo­ zulya), Finland (Dr. (Tech.) F.F. Gorbatsevich, Dr. (Geol.-mineral.) A.A. Zhamaletdinov, Dr. (Tech.) V.P. Konukhin), Switzerland Dr. (Chem.) I.N. Tolstikhin). A novel focus of the current year is geotourism (Prof. Yu.L. Voytekhovsky, Cand.Sci. (Geol.-mineral.) V.V Kol'ka, V.N. Petrov, I.L. Volkova). Unfortunately, overlapping of the Geologist's Day and Easter prevented a number o f Russian andforeign colleagues (Dr. (Geol.-mineral.) V.I. Bogoyavlensky, P.
