On January 14 the Geological Institute KSC RAS carried out the Annual Meeting o f the Institute Staff. On January 19 the Kola Branch o f the Russian Mineralogical Society started its annual functioning with the Portback Election Meeting. On January 20 the Institute hosted the Workshop on Perspectives o f Cross-border Cooperation with the Geological Survey o f Finland (Northern Office, Rovaniemi). On January 26-28 employees of the Institute partook in the XXI International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 100thanniversary ofAcad. V.I. Smirnov's birthday «Fundamental Issues o fMineral Deposits Geology and Metallogeny» (Moscow). On January 29 the Northern Capital o f Russia venued XXI Scientific Readings dedicated to Acad. A.P. Karpinsky. On February 1-5 the delegation of the Geological Institute KSC RAS and Institute of Geology KarSC RAS visited the Geological Survey o f Finland (Eastern Office, Outokumpu, Kuopio) to discuss perspectives ofjoint cooperation. On February 8 the Institute carried out Scientific Session dedicated to the Day o f Russian Science. On February 10 and March 3 leading researchers o f the Institute participated in meetings «Development Strategy for the Mining Complex of the Murmansk Region till 2020» with Regional Governor D.V.
