73 EXHIBITIONS INGEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE The Geological Institute proceeds with hosting art exhibitions. On August 24 the opening of the photo exhibition «Reflected Saint-Petersburg» of the Canadian artist Alexander Pustovoit was held. The artist's idea was to convey reflections o f «the silver and ghostly city of mists» in the waters o f the Neva river and canals. Every visitor o f the exhibition had his own treatment of the photo works. Some were struck by the author's ability «to see the city as a bright, clear and colourful one. Rarely does one manage to shot it like that». Others treated distorted reflections of Saint- Petersburg as those of «a city with a distorted life. Perhaps, it was this that the master intended to convey in deformed reflections o f the city in the Neva and canals». Besides, A. Pustovoit presented several works dedicated to the Kola North and Karelia. Severe character o f the latter is channeled via a skillful use o f the black-and-white palette of a shot. On September 1 the «Red horse» exhibition was opened. Presented were pictures of little students o f Children School for Arts in Apatity. Little artists conveyed their own vision of the best-known picture o f K.S. Petrov-Vodkin in the framework o f the pedagogical experimental program that supposes studying the history o f arts from the first grade. The tutor o f the children art-critic Xenia Kolobova presented a speech on the experiment and works themselves. On the exhibition attendees' unanimous opinion, involving creativity of children in such an artistic way is most useful for their further development, since «formation of an artistic view on the best examples o f the world culture should begin in the veriest youth», as one o f the visitors said. выставки в геологическом институте В четвёртом квартале 2009 г. в стенах и по инициативе Геологического института КНЦ РАН прошли две художественные выставки. 24 августа состоялось торжественное от­ крытие фотовыставки «Отражённый Петербург» фотохудожника Александра Пустовойта. При­ бывший из Канады автор работ с удовольствием ответил на вопросы участников пре­ зентации, проявивших неподдель­ ный интерес к его творчеству. По словам А. Пустовойта, художествен­ ный замысел заключался в отраже­ нии «серебряно-призрачного горо­ да туманов» в водах Невы и каналов - и каждый видел в этих отражения что-то своё. Одних поразило «виде­ ние города как яркого, светлого, кра­ сочного. Таким Санкт-Петербург уда­ ётся запечатлеть не часто!». Другие же в искривлённых отражениях Пе­ тербурга увидели «город с изломан­ ной историей. Возможно, именно это хотел показать мастер в изломанных отражениях города на Неве и в кана­ лах». Так или иначе, равнодушных к выставке не осталось, о чём явствен­ но свидетельствует книга отзывов. Помимо серии «Отражённый Петербург», автор привёз несколько работ, посвящённых Кольскому Северу и Карелии. «Суровая графика Севера» на­ шла отражение в мастерски использованной тех­ нике чёрно-белой съёмки.
