On July 4-11 the Geological Institute held the Russian-Chinese-Indian Workshop «Deep drill­ ing and metallogeny of the continental crust» in the framework of Agreement on further cooperation in the sphere of superdeep drilling and study of Cr ores with the Institute of Geology of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. Researchers of the Geological Institute carried out excursions on deposits of Cu-Ni, Cr and PGE deposits and ore occurrences of the Mon­ chegorsk area. Chinese experts examined the unique drill core of the Kola Superdeep Borehole and par­ took in two seminars in the Institute. On August 1-7 the Institute hosted Dr. M. Tara­ sov from the Central Laboratory for Mineralogy and Crystallography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sci­ ences, who came for carrying out joint works under the newly launched project on rare metal granites. Dr. Tarasov got acquainted with the samples of ores, rocks and minerals, sections and polished sections of the Russian Party. Some minerals of certain petro- graphical types of rocks and ores were selected for further research. On a weekly seminar in the Institute Dr. Tarasov presented his report on dissemination, relations and microprobe dating of REE-Th-U miner­ als of granitoids of SW Bulgaria. On August 17-22 the Geological Institute car­ ried out the multinational excursion «Eurogranites Arctic 2009». The excursion program was two-fold and comprised one day of studying Nattanen granite fells in the Finnish Lapland (August 15) and five days of work in Russia (August 17-22). The first excursion day in Russia (August 18) was a logical continuation of the excursion in Finland, since the participants, 21 in total, proceeded from the Nattanen post-orogenic granitoids in Finland to those of the Ara-Guba com­ plex in Russia. Participants of «Eurogranites Arctic 2009» partook in the Conference in the Geological Institute, which was followed by excursions to the Ramzay Valley and Snow Cirque of the Takhtarvum- chorr plateau in the Khibiny Mountains. The current experience of carrying out interna­ tional meetings testifies to the Kola Peninsula being of particular interest to our foreign colleagues. ДРУЖБА, FRIENDSHIP, FREUNDSCHAFT... Во втором полугодии 2009 г. Геологический институт КНЦ РАН провёл целую серию между­ народных мероприятий, развивая дружеские и взаимовыгодные научные контакты с Западом и Востоком, Европой и Азией. Впрочем, обо всём по порядку. С 13 мая по 17 июля гостем Геологического института стал известный английский геохимик, историк и популяризатор науки д-р Дж.-Ф. Глас- би (G.Ph. Glasby). Ответственный за приём - проф. Ю.Л. Войтеховский. История отношений нача­ лась с того, что годом ранее д-р Гласби попросил меня предоставить фотодокументы для его ста­ тьи о роли акад. А.Е. Ферсмана в истории освое­ ния Хибин. В такой просьбе нельзя было отказать. В итоге получилась богато иллюстрированная статья [Fersman and the Kola Peninsula // Geoscien­ tist. The Magazine of the Geological Society of Lon­ don. 2008. V 18. N 7. P 20-25], завершающая три­ логию о великих геохимиках [см. статьи того же автора о В.-М. Гольдшмидте и Л.-Р. Уэйджере в выпусках 2007. V 17. N 3. P 22-27 и 2007. V 17. N 12. P 20-25 того же журнала]. Знакомство с истори­ ей освоения края так увлекло д-ра Гласби, что он попросил дать ему возможность увидеть Хибины своими глазами. За два месяца д-ром Дж.-Ф. Гласби в соав­ торстве с сотрудниками Кольского НЦ РАН на­ писан ряд обзорных статей «О минеральных ре­ сурсах Российской Арктики», «Об апатитовых месторождениях Хибин», «О реках Кольского полуострова» и др., которые уже опубликова­ ны или находятся на рассмотрении в редакциях международных журналаов «Geochemical News», «Geoscientist» и «Nature Geoscience». В планах д-ра Гласби - статья об истории проходки Коль­ ской сверхглубокой скважины. Сверх намеченной программы визита 18 мая 2009 г. д-р Гласби вы­ ступил с заказным докладом «L.R. Wager: explorer,
