Как следовало из докладов, Фен- носкандия обладает значительным потенциалом высоколиквидного стратегического минерального сырья. Проблема предупреждения будущих кри­ зисов в значительной мере состоит в кооперации усилий по их вовлечению в промышленную от­ работку. В связи с этим обращает внимание по­ следний из названных докладов. Университеты Северной Европы согласовывают образователь­ ные программы горно-геологического профиля ради уменьшения конкуренции на рынке труда. По-видимому, университетам Карело-Кольского региона стоило бы заимствовать лучшее из этих программ. В рамках конференции состоялись рабочие переговоры с главным геологом Геологической службы Финляндии (северный офис) Р. Пиетиля (рис.) о перспективах приграничного сотрудни­ чества. The article highlights international happenings in the Geological Institute KSC RAS in the fourth quarter of the current year. The schedule of receiv­ ing foreign specialists was highly saturated and some visits overlapped, thus producing a series of multilat­ eral meetings. On May 13-July 17 the Geological Institute hosted the British marine geochemist Dr. Geoffrey P. Glasby, who came for writing articles on mineral re­ sources of Arctic Russia jointly with Director of the Institute Prof. Yury L. Voytekhovsky. Dr. Glasby par­ took in VI All-Russian (with international participa- tion) Fersman Scientific Session with the report «L.R. Wager: explorer, mountaineer and geologist» and in international seminars with Indian and Chinese del­ egations. On June 25-July 8 Prof. Talat Ahmad and PhD. Mukesh Kumar Mishra from University of Delhi vis­ ited the Geological Institute in the framework of the Russian-Indian project B-2.58 (ILTP) «Geochemical, isotopic аnd geochronological characterization of granitoids from the Central Indian Tectonic Zones (CITZ) аnd Central Indian Shear (CIS) Zones: con­ straints on Precambrian crustal evolution». The In­ dian colleagues carried out geochronological and isotopic-geochemical works jointly with researchers of the Institute, summarized results of the project and discussed perspectives of further collaboration. Both attendees took part in weekly scientific seminars in the Geological Institute with reports to follow: T.
