Разнообразие научных подходов к развитию производительных сил российского Севера отражено в пяти концепциях, каждая из которых может учитываться в анализе настоящего и прогнозировании будущего. В них фиксируются главные моменты северной тематики: Север — коренная земля россиян, источник человеческих ресурсов и знаний; выборочный и усеченный характер размещения производства и расселения населения; возвышение роли этнических и экологических аспектов развития; переход к новой индустрии и переосвоению территорий; установление экономического порядка с помощью механизмов хозяйственной деятельности, соответствующих экстремальным и сложным климатическим условиям. Действительность такова, что исследователю социально-экономических проблем легче представить идеальный образ будущего отдельных «северов», чем понять и дать научное объяснение их современного состояния. Эта посылка служит методологическим основанием для приоритета исследований проблем модернизации уже созданных на Севере территориально-хозяйственных систем и перевода на второй план амбициозных мегапроектов нового освоения Арктики. CONCEPTS AND REALITY OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES OF RUSSIA V. N. The diversity of scientific approaches to the development of the productive forces of the Russian North is reflected in five concepts, each of which can be taken into account in the analysis of the present and forecasting the future. They fix the main points of the Northern theme: the North is the native land of the Russians, the source of human resources and knowledge; selective and truncated character of the location of production and settling of the population; the rise of the role of ethnic and environmental aspects of development; the transition to a new industry and the re-development of territories; establishment of economic order by means of mechanisms of economic activity corresponding to extreme and difficult climatic conditions. The reality is that it is easier for a researcher of socio-economic problems to imagine an ideal image of the future of separate northern territories than to understand and give a scientific explanation of their current state. This serves as a methodological basis for the priority of modernization of the territorial and economic systems already created in the North and the relegation to the background of ambitious mega-projects for the development of the Arctic.
