The commercial development of fields situated on Yamal and in adjacent water areas is of utter importance for the purpose of ensuring gas production growth after year 2010. There are 11 gas and 15 oil, gas and condensate fields discovered in Yamal with explored and provisionally evaluated reserves of approximately 16 tcm, in-place and forecast gas resources of approximately 22 tcm. In 2002 Gazprom together with Yamal- Nenets Autonomous Okrug prepared the complex program of Yamal Peninsula fields’ development. In 2007Gazpromand regional administration amended the program draft using the up-to-date technical, technological and nature protection solutions. This document provided the basis for development of the Yamal megaproject. There will be three production zones established on the Yamal Peninsula – Bovanenkovskaya, Tambeyskaya, and Yuzhnaya. Development of offshore fields in the Kara Sea is supposed to be launched after 2025. And already by 2030 it is planned to produce onshore and offshore on Yamal 310-360 bcmpa, which is commensurate with Gazprom’s current gas supplies to the domestic consumers and twofold up on the volume of gas exports. Generally Gazpromplans to develop Yamal by its own forces. However, the possibility of LNG plant construction nea the Yuzhno- Tambeyskoye field is considered. In this case, as it was in case with the Shtokman project, foreign partners can be involved into the Yamal megaproject. Gazprom started compiling of the potential participants’ short-list. Development of the Tambey fields’ group is planned to be launched after 2020, but if the decision concerning LNG plant is positive, this will be started earlier. The first startup complex for pre- development of the Cenomanian-Aptian deposits of the Bovanenkovskoye field involves construction of 60 from the total number of 98 wells and the first module of a comprehensive gas treatment unit, as well as the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta trunkline system. Alexey Miller, Head of Gazprom, ensured the commissioning of the Bovanenkovskoye field with initial capacity of 15 bcmpa in the third quarter of 2011. The Yamal megaproject includes construction of the Obskaya – Bovanenkovo railway. This railway is planned to be launched by the end of 2009. By 2012 Bovanenkovo airport is going to be put into service. AccordingtoGazprom’s informationoffice, in 2007 – 2008 the whole work package was implemented to prepare for drilling of the first well in the No 33 well pad at the Bovanenkovskoye field. The first drilling unit of the fifth generation called Ekaterina and embodying all the most progressive design concepts was manufactured at one of the leading Russian engineering enterprises URALMASH – Drilling equipment. In July 2008 Gazprom launched the construction of the gas pipeline’s most difficult section – the submerged crossing via the Baidarata Bay. A total of 37.7 km of pipelines were laid in the section this year. By 2011 the Baidarata Bay is planned to see the construction of the first two lines (72-km-long each) of the submerged crossing. 18 ÿíâàðü 2009 ¹ 5 ÌóðìàíøåëüôÈíôî Yamal megaproject launched December 3, 2008 the drilling of first gas production well at the Bovanenkovskoye field on the Yamal Peninsula was started. Ukhta (Republic of Komi) hosted the celebrations dedicated to the launch of the construction and the welding of the first joint of the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline system. Investment volume for Yamal makes up approximately 25 per cent of the Gazprom’s whole investment program with the prospect to reach 30 per cent within 2 coming years. In 2009 investments into Yamal will amount to Rub 210 billion, incl. - Rub 20 billion into construction of the 525 km long Obskaya – Bovanenkovo railway branch line. - Rub 80 billion into development of the Bovanenkovskoye oil, gas and condensate field (reserves – 4.9 tcm; forecasted gas production volume – 115 bcmpa up to 140 bcmpa in the long-term period). – Rub 110 billion into construction of the gas pipeline system from Yamal of the total length of about 2500 km including the 1100 km long Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline system. The new gas transportation system will incorporate 27 compressor stations of total capacity of 8600 – 11600 MW. North of Russia – a region of the Gazprom’s strategic interest Oil and Gas
