September 2009 № 3 (8) MurmanshelfInfo 65 In the Norwegian government’s strategy for the northern areas, knowledge is being promoted as the pillar of progress, and it is stressed that the inhabitants in the northern areas shall have access to education at all levels. The strategy is pointing out the need to develop more business and technology based education to strengthen the relations with private businesses. In addition it is an ambition to strengthen the educational cooperation in the northern areas, especially in relation to Russia. Politicians in Finnmark have singled out the Hammerfest Upper Secondary School as the main school in the county for education in the fields of oil, gas and energy. We take in approximately 500 pupils from the entire county. We offer education programs for study specializing and for occupational course. In addition we provide further education. After a total of 10 years primary school and 4 years of upper secondary school/apprenticeship the pupils may take an exam to gain their occupational certificate and have then completed their education. In oil and gas and energy related subjects we have such programs, as Electro, Automation, Chemistry and processes, Technology and industrial production. The school has signed several extensive cooperation agreements with the oil and gas industry and the supplier industry. Central cooperation partners are the Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil (Sn ø hvit LNG), DF Group and Aibel. We are also in dialogue with the Italian oil company ENI which is operating at the Goliat field (oil) near Hammerfest. Школа старшей ступени Хаммерфеста. Hammerfest Upper Secondary School. Ежегодно здесь проходят обучение около пятисот человек со всей страны. Мы предлагаем специализированные учебные программы и программы для профессиональных курсов. В допол- нение к этому предоставляем услуги по переподготов- ке и повышению квалификации. Пройдя обучение на- чальной, средней и старшей ступеней школы, включая стажировку, учащиеся могут сдать экзамен и получить сертификат о полном среднем образовании с присвое- нием рабочей специальности. В ней подчёркивается, что жители северных территорий должны иметь обязательный доступ к образованию любого уровня, а развитие образования должно быть основано на потребностях бизнеса и ориен- тировано на инновационные технологии.
