One of the most serious problems experienced by businesspeople in the contemporary business life is posed by leakage of confidential information in a company. Approximately 80%of all information safety incidents in companies are connected to facts of data leakage. According to the studies carried out by analytical laboratory of InfoWatch, in 9 months of 2008 there were registered 249 cases of unauthorized information use, which means more than 1 incident per day. In 2008 alone data leakage infringed interests of more than 100 million people all over the world! Global financial crisis accompanied by mass job cuts will only sharpen the problem, as information value in a moment of crisis increases. Protection of confidential information in this situation becomes a vital issue. There are quite many various protection systems. The most efficient ones perhaps are special Data Leakage Prevention systems (DLP). Their operating principle is quite easy, it is a complex system comprising eavesdropper monitors installed into all (!) possible channels of information copying and forwarding and content filtration (analysis) of information captured by eavesdropper monitors. DLP system can block sending/copying of suspicious information or it can allow it to leave the company with notification of responsible persons. It is the customer who decides whether to block or to notify. These qualities provided for amusingly fast spreading of DLF systems. It is suffice to say that in 2008 alone the market of these systems showed 50 per cent growth and despite the global financial crisis the analysts forecast its successful development in 2009 as well.
