EXPLORATIONS 72 tion Arctic-2014 did more: they continuously surveyed the bottom for 4 - 5 km deep and made an attempt to find petroleum deposits. The results of integrated geophysical ex ploration performed in the expedition suf ficiently enhanced argumentation of the Russian Federation in justification of conti nental shelf external boundaries. Preliminary analysis of CMP reflection time sections in particular allowed correlating stratification of the sedimentary cover of the East Siberian and Chukchi seas shallow shelves with the stratification of the Podvodnikov deep water basin. At a quality level new stratification general concept has been adopted. It shall be sub mitted in the RF Application to the Commis sion on the Continental Shelf. CMP reflection seismic survey along the straight lines in one of the most inaccessible Arctic regions, namely - the Makarov Basin was performed for the first time. This allowed confirming the idea earlier ex pressed by the Russian scientists on the rifting nature of this basin. The data on seismic waves velocities in the sedimentary cover, acquired in the expedition by reflection and refraction sounding will allow constructing correctly the bottom sections along the shot lines.
