WITHOUT POLITICS 66 our field are all unique as flying aces. It should be noted that MAGE staff is highly-scientific: there are candidates, doctors of sciences, laureates of state prizes. It is necessary to increase production profitability all the time fo r achievement of financial stability. In our situation it is possible either at the expense of increase in number of orders or at the expense of annual expansion of survey methods. At present, it is, first of all, 2D- 3D seism ic surveys including surveys in transition and land zones, shipboard magnetometer surveys and gravity observations; geotechnical investigations; high-resolution and ultra-high- resolution seismic; borehole drilling; bathymetric survey; continuous seismoacoustic profiling and much, much more. We regularly conduct modernization of the research vessels in compliance with up- to-date requirements as well as firmware re-equipment of the onshore processing center. For example, last year we conducted a complete re-equipment of the RV Geofizik. Now the vessel is capable of doing all the range of geological and geophysical operations fo r engineering site investigations.” “ As fo r in c rea se in o rde rs, co u ld you s p e c ify w ho y o u r cu s tom e rs a re to d a y ? ” “ First of all, we conduct studies under several contracts with the Federal Subsoil Resources Management Agency (Rosnedra) and our major companies: Gazprom and Rosneft, whose confidence we have managed to justify. Besides, MAGE actively works all over the world. For example, we have completed works under multiclient surveys in the Celtic Sea and on the continental shelf of Ireland. We have established a long-term cooperation with India, Norway, and the USA. We are trying to 3D s e ism ic s u rv e y in th e Sea o f O k h o ts k , 2 0 1 4 . I shall say w ithout exaggeration that our authority is rather high in the world; therefore, sometimes we adequately compete with many western companies.” NEW STAGES OF TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT “ Nowadays, one o f th e m o s t im p o rta n t d ire c tio n s o f g e o lo g ic a l e x p lo ra tio n s is a tra n s itio n zone. W ha t reg io n s o f th em have you m anaged to c o v e r? ” “Well, until now, we performed works in the transition zone of the Pechora Sea and near the Yamal Shelf. On the presented sections it is clearly seen that quality of field data fo r the transition zone can be checked against results of normal marine seismic shipboard works. Furthermore, work results on the near Yamal Shelf showed a high degree of informational content of the data both fo r the transition zone and fo r land operations of onshore sections. As a result, we succeeded in creating a single technology cluster of seismic surveys on the shelf, in the transition zone and onshore with high quality of seism ic dataset. And there is another important thing, operations in the transition zone and onshore make it possible to carry out surveys in 4C mode that opens a new stage of technical development in the industry and allows conducting multicomponent (4C) seismic surveys in the Arctic, and provides a gradual transition to multiwave seismology.” “ D ecision on c re a tio n o f y o u r own onsho re g roup , su re ly, d id n o t a rise on im pu lse , d id it? ” “The 21st century sets before the geological exploration some new tasks on field discoveries connected with integrated studies of sea shelf, shallow water and land. Therefore, today onshore seismic work conducting has become one of MAGE activities. We have created our own modern onshore group, both in terms of the technical equipment and by the MURMANSK MILE • 3-2016
