Целью проекта «Полярный индекс» является п о вышен и е общего интереса к теме устойчивого развития — концеп­ ции того, как компании или территории могут развиваться гармонично и сбалан­ сированно, задумываясь о будущем и инвестируя в него. Рейтинги стимули­ руют компании более активно внедрять принципы устойчивого развития в свою деятельность, а территории — выстраи­ вать политику максимального достиже­ ния целей устойчивого развития. Кроме того, публикация рейтингов «Полярный индекс» поощряет открытость компаний и территорий, их готовность к диалогу с обществом и к публичной презентации своей работы. Это в конечном итоге идет на пользу всем, кто живет и работает в регионах Севера, — госу­ д арственным органам, бизнесу и, глав­ ное, жителям Арктики. Также раскрыва­ ются авторские подходы к разработке модели устойчивого развития, к разви­ тию концепции и п ринципам устой чи в о ­ го развития. ABSTRACT The article reveals the m e th od o log y and me thod s of the Polar Index project. The goal of the Polar Index project is to increase general interest in the topic of sustainable d e v e lo pm e n t — the concept of how comp an ie s or territories can develop h a rm o n iou s ly and balanced, th inking a bout the future and investing in it. Ratings en cou rage comp an ie s to more actively imp lem e n t the principles of sustainable d e v e lo pm e n t in their activi­ ties, and territories — to build a policy for the m a ximum ach ie vemen t of s u stain a ­ ble d e v e lopm e n t goals. In addition, the publication of the Polar Index ratings e n ­ courages the op en n e ss o f comp an ie s and territories, their readiness for dialogue with society and public presentation of their work. This u ltimately benefits every­ one who lives and wo rks in the regions of the North — g o v e rnm e n t agencies, b u si­ nesses and, most importantly, residents of the Arctic.
