Pig. 15. Changes of solar wind input and output energy and auroral electrojets parame ters in substorm periods of March 22,1979. From top to bottom: intensities of westward (J ) and eastward (J ) auroral electrojets, a total dis turbance power (Q 3 O, power delivered by the solar wind to the magnetosphere ( £ , « ’), indices AE. which shows the dynamics of two values of energy input for the substorm on March 22, 1979: £ calculated according to Perreault and Akasofu (1978) and £' estimated by Mishin et al.(1984) using the technique of inversion of magnetоgrams. The general conclusion of the above studies is that both the directly driven processes (growth phase) and nondriven loading-unloading processes (expansive phase) play an important role in substorma depending on different phases. CONCLUSIONS. In this paper we have considered some features of the influence of the solar wind parameters on magnetic substorms dynamics. The results of this examination may be summarized as follows. 1. The main parameters of the solar wind affected the average level o± the magnetic activity are the IMF southern component and solar wind velocity. As the statistical analyses show AL and AU indices correlate in the best way with or B 0v characteristics. 2. The influence of the IMF azimuthal component on magnetio activity is ambiguous and is the sum of various effects» - the equinoctial peaks of activity with the Russell-McPherron effect forming their foundation, - the growth of convection disturbance occurence with the increase of an absolute value IВ I , I30
