Taking into account the concrete polar conditions serves f o r determining the wave amplitude. F o r this r.urpose the condition f o r the energy conservation is used, i.e. the energy of the wave is transmitted from the polar latitudes a n d is determined f r o m the energy of the c orresponding phe n o m e n o n w h i c h caused it. This permits knowing the meas u r e m e n t s in the middle latitudes to make conclusions about the energy input in the polar oval. For this purpose it is ne c e s s a r y to k n o w the experimental d i s t r ibution of concrete parameter of the neutral component. Ionization den s i t y is a n indicator of the p henomenon taking place. Fig.8a shows the numerical dis t r i b u t i o n o btained and Fig.8b - the experimental distribution a c c ording to ftoble et al, (1978) i n Millstone Hill. The same for Arecibo is presented in Fig.9a,b, Because of the complex dependence of N on the wave parameters o n one h a n d a n d the variations of the temporary characteristics of the vertioal current o n the other hand, a direct co n c l u sion about d i s t r i b u t i o n of N f o r energy quantity cannot be made (unless we use the me t h o d of f itting the amplitude constant so that a coincidence is obtained w i t h the experimental picture). 98
