On the contrary during the aeoond storm there observed the very intensive main phase lasting only 4b . Thirdly, the geophysical appearances of SC during the stones on 16 and 17 of December w©re different. In the first case SC did not influence on the geophysical situation and in the second cuse SC which appeared at the recovering phase of the preceding star® caused some severe substoras. In this collection the ground-based data obtained by the net of the geophysical stations of Soviet Union are represented. In the work by Shuaailov et ai. there considered the riometer absorption which was registered during these srorms, where is shown that SCA end FCA observed only after the second SC. In turn the auroral absorption which is connected to substorms took place all-over during 16 -18 December 1971» In the work by Sergeev the peculiarities of develop­ ment of these storms are considered according to the world-wide ground-based data of aagaetic stations. The great attention is paid to preliminary phases of the storms. It is shown that the intensities of the storms depend on the intensities of its preliminary phases. In the work by Loginov and Afanasieva the geomag­ netic pulsations data of Soviet stations are represented. In the next articles (three articles) the develop­ ment of polar aurora according to photometric, photogra­ phic and spectral data are described. In the first work the observational data of all net of Soviet Union stations are used, the second and the third articles are шаае according to results ODtainecl at Coia penineuia stations• In the works oy Trutzche ana kropotkina it is shown the results of spectral observations at middle latitudes. And in articles by Shulgina and Kalitenkov some ionospheric appearances during the storms are represented. 7
