Планетарное возмущение 16-18 декабря 1971 года / Акад. наук СССР, Кол. фил. им. С. М. Кирова, Поляр. геофиз. ин-т. – Апатиты : [б. и.], 1977. – 125 с.

INTRODUCTION The development of the methods eattelites and rocket measurements during space researches not only made it leaa but on the contrary stressed the 3 j 41 0 taa.ee ground-based investigation». So the obserbational data obtained by the ground-based devices in the course of the world-wide events are always very useful for the analysis of the aagnetosphere-ionosphere relations. For this reason the discurDance ой 16—20 of December in 1971 attracts atten tion relative to the interesting results on red emission 6300 i which were obtained by Canadian scientists with the help of ISIS-2 sattelite /1/. The professor Shepard - eonviner of polar aurora symposium which tools; place in Japan in 1973 asked me to organize «те.mining of the geophysical data during distur bance on 16-18 XII 1971 obtained by the northern net of Soviet Union stations and to prepare a report at the sym posium. The request тая carried out and the general results of this short report aas published in /2/. Bat the collec tions of the езгреriaental data by some reason was not published at that moasent. How we are trying to eliminate this flaw publishing this collection of the articles. The interest to the disturbance on 16-20.XU 1971 is not decreasing, abroad there appear the works on the event, so the publishing of the Soviet Union experimental results Mist be also interesting. I mention the general peculiarities of the event described. First of all the Dgt-variation data show that there existed two storms, the first began at 1907 on 16tb of December, the second at 1410 on 17 th 0f December. At the beginnings of each storm one can see sudden commencements. Second, in spite of external likeness of the beginning Phases of the storms, - the intensities are equal to 20 and 30 T and the durations are equal to 2 й , the main phases 6
