several substorms different in power. The balloons were located at various positions respective to the center of different activization regions and therefore different effects in the precipitation of energetic electrons were registered. The results obtained are in agreement with the scheme of the breakup during the precipitetion of energetic electrons proposed in /3/. Temporal and energetic features of precipitation change depending on the position of the instruments either within the center of the activation zone or at the edge of the expansion region. The measured effects reflect the dynamics of the processes in different magneto- spheric regions which are projecting to the measurement points. If the magnetic field line is projected from the zone of measurements to the outer radiation belt, then the precipitation with a hard energetic spectrum is observed: X-ray flux is significant as compared with aurora brightness. If the magnetic field line is projected to the magnetoshper- ic tail, then aurora bursts lacking X-ray fiux are observed over the balloon. The relationship between the energetic electron bursts of 5-10 min.duration and diffuse aurora bands oriented north- south is a new effect discovered during the events on January 23-24. Such precipitations are observed within the expanded aurora surge during the night local time, they drift westward with the average velocity of 0,3 кш/вес and are associated with the bursts like D disturbance. Similar precipitation bursts are observed during morning hours. The drift of the corresponding diffuse aurora goes eastward. Disturbances associated with similar aurora are scarcely described in literature. The works by J.L.Kisabeth, G.Eostoker and T Saito on the relation of magnetic disturb ances and auroral surge and waves during the substorm /4/, the properties of Ps6 pulsation in the auroral zone /5/ are widely known. But nobody has yet analyzed the precipitation of energetic particles, drift of diffuse aurora and the electric field associated with this phenomenon. Therefore the further analysis of the data obtained during the experi ment seecm to be ueeful. 38
