С. М. Кирова, Поляр. геофиз. ин-т и др. – Препринт ПГИ 80-1. – Апатиты : [б. и.],1980. - 58 с.

Prom January 21 till March 6, 1979 there were 5 favourable intervale which satisfied these criteria when the balloons were launched. In Pig.2 we give the data on geomagnetic disturbances during the flights, the Kp and Dgt graphs, the balloon flight intervals in horizontal lines (balloon de signations are respective to Table 1). This paper aims at description and analysis of the main features of the geophysical processes occurred during the balloon flights using the data on X-ray, strato spheric electric fields, magnetic variations registered by the ground-based stations, cosmic noise absorption and aurora. Such analysis is useful for extracting concrete events for detailed and profound investigations utilizing the satellite data and all kinds of ground data. Measurements carried out by the French balloons stay beyond this paper as the data are still unprepared. Events of January 23-2». 1979- The main data obtained during the period from 1300 UT January 23 to 1400 UT January 24 are given in Pig.3,4,5«. The stratospheric meas urements were carried out by three instruments: 2 ABP, 4GP, 5 МЕР. Intervals in simulteneous measurements are given in Pig.2; the mutual balloon disposition is shown on the trajectories given in Pig.1a. The period under consideration la characterized by the highest activity during the campaign (Pig.2). The maximum of world magnetic storm was registered at 2400 UT January 23, Dat was 78 f was 6“ . The energetic particle precipitation was observed up to L«3,6. Active aurora were registered by the all-зку cameras at Loparskaya and Arkhangelsk (observations were not carried out at other stations because of bad weather conditions). Sometimes the active aurora southward boundary expanded to L~4. The aurora were dynamic and characterized by rapid shape changing, orientation of arcs and rapid movement of the structures. During the night several substorms were observed. They had 5 evident breakups at 1830,2101,2204, 0149,0208 UT. The first three breakups are clearly seen in 26
