Abstract The description of the magnetospheric disturbances during the SAMBO-79 campaign is presented. The data of the stratospheric and ground-based observations on January 23-24 and March 5-7, 1979 are given. The main material is the data on auroral X-ray and the electric field horizontal component. Certain events interesting for further investigation are marked out: precipitations associated with aurora bands oriented north-south; precipitation during auroral breakups; the dynamics of the electric field behaviour at different phases of the substorm; pulsations in the electric field and the precipitation of energetic electrons, microbursts of precipitation. 22
