Ordinary linear regressions of the Y on X and I on ~i data points, if plotted in the same coordinates, differ, fro m eac h other so the uncertainty arises in the jhoise between the equations w h e n the I and Y data have equal sig nificance. It is proposed for these oases that the linear relation be t ween two ra n d om variables shouldy minimize sum of square distances b e t ween the data points and the sear ched line. Formulas for the calculations are presented. It is proposed to name this linear relation as mutual linear regression. A number of experiments o n r estoration of the linear relftion distorted guassian noise reveal high efficiency of mutual regression.
