Аскаплоты полярных сияний за 1985-1986 гг. / Рос. акад. наук, Кол. науч. центр, Поляр. геофиз. ин-т. - Апатиты : КНЦ РАН, 1997. - 92 с.

X- aurorae spread all over the sky, the auroral activity in the zenith was equal to index 3, neither aurorae nor clouds were observed in the south. XII- no aurorae in the north, probably because of partial cloudiness , the auroral activity is index 2 . XIII- aurorae of index 1 activity in both the North and the zenith, no clouds in the South. XIV- ten-tenth cloud, no aurorae, moon lighting. XV- the situation is similar, but the ascafilms turned out to be of bad quality due to technical reasons (bad development of this part of the film, breaks of automatic operation, etc.). AURORAL ACTIVITY. The index of auroral activity calculated on the basis of ascaplots was suggested in /7 /. It equals to PA = N K, where N is the number of blackened squares within the time interval, and К is the coefficient depending on the connected geomagnetic co-ordinates. The connection between PA and the auroral magnetic AL-index for midnight hours was determined in /7 / from ascaplots of 35 stations during IGY. PA-index provides adjusting the data of the stations located at different latitudes to a common value for 4-hour intervals around the local geomagnetic midnight. Figure 2 shows seasonal variations o f auroral (PA-index), magnetic (Kp-index) and solar (Wolf numerals). Auroral and solar activities have no seasonal peaks. As usuall equinoctial maximum is mostly seen in magnetic activity, especially in April. Figure 3 presents the cycle variations of auroral, magnetic and solar activity obtained by data averaged for 12 months of each year. In 1986 we observed the beginning of the auroral activity enhancement associated with the 5-year cycle /8 /. rig. 2. p a 2.0 J *i \ \ Seasonal variations o f PA-index (solid line), Kp-index (dotted tine) and Wolf numerals (dashed line).
