4 I N T R O D U C T I O N In this issue the Auroral Suboenter of the World Data Center B2 begin the publication of the aoviet arctio and antarotio auroral data. Data produced by the ascaplote in acoordanoe with the recommendations of Assembly Ш.ОА (Moscow, 1958). In "Annala of the IGY" edited by W.Stoffregen /1,2/ two iaaues of ascap- lots were published for 1957-195B and 1958-1959 years, using the data of the world net of the all-aky оашегав including the soviet stations. After of "An­ nals of the IGY" data of soviet stations where not published, with the excep­ tion of ascaplote of Loparakaya in the "Auroral phenomena-72 /3/ at al). Pre­ sent iasue include the data of 1972 year. In Table 1 there is a list of the stations whose data uaed in thia iaaue. The ascaplote are the usual quick- look on auroral data for three latitude intervals: north, eenith, south. The every interval is three degrees of the la­ titude approximately. The auroral activity in zenith region is marked by three- level scale. General time interval of data is half of the hour. The ascaplot method of the prooessing was deacripted in iaeue "Annala of the IGY" /1/. The short description of the ascaplot method is discussed here. Besides of the ascaplots in the iaaue there ia the planetary indexea of the auroral activity. The ascaplots have been prepared by the employees of the Auroral Subcen­ ter Us.L.N.Korobeynikova, Ura.N.f.Maltseva, Mrs.O.V.Yuechenko and Mrs.L.N.M^lcha- nova (the head).
