13 coefficient rapidly grows with the increase of the period of averaging. This testifies, on one hand, to the existence of-interelation between magnetic and auroral activity and, on the other hand, to a low representa- tivity of the PA index at small intervals of averaging. The issue "Ascaplots of Soviet stations for 1976 " /5/ describes possible reasons of this phenomenon. Figure 6 demonstrates cycle variations of auroral, magnetic, and solar activity. On the side of the solar activity fall there continues an increase of the mean level of auroral and magnetic disturbance; note that the increase of the magnetic activity is much greater. Figure 7 gives the seasonal variation for 1982. Definite maxima of magnetic activity is observed in February and September. Distortion of the typical seasonal variation of the magnetic activity with the equinoxial maximum is connected with a high increase of the solar activity in February, The PA variation is slightly changed during the year. Figure 7b presents seasonal changes for 1972-1982. The seasonal variation is practically absent for auroral and solar activity. Reduction of the spring maximum is connected with a sharp fall of magnetic activity in March 1982. Peculiarities of the described year are character ized by the seasonal variation of the difference between mean values for 1972-1982 and the corresponding activity in 1982 (Fig.7b). The solar activity is significantly larger though the fall has already started. Thus the difference values are positive for the solar activity. In 1982 the increase of magnetic and auroral activity continued; but the magnetic activity was growing much quicker, thus the difference valus for Z Kp are mainly positive whereas corresponding values of the auroral index are varying about zero.
