Мазухина С. й . и др. Формирование химического состава поверхностных вод. S. Г. Mazukhina, V. A. Masloboev, S. S. Sandimirov, V. I. Pozhilenko, S. V. Ivanov Forming chemical composition of surface waters in the Arctic. Case study of Lake Inars and the River Paz Questions o f studying the formation o f surface and ground waters, their interaction with rocks, development of the basics o f their rational use and protection are o f great fundamental and practical importance. The influence of the northern Fennoscandian (Baltic) Shield rock composition on forming surface waters' chemical composition in the border area o f Finland - Russia - Norway (Lake Inari, the River Paz) using physical-chemical modeling (Selector software package) has been evaluated. For the physical-chemical modeling there have been made two samples o f chemical analyses o f the most widespread rocks forming the catchment area, with their percentage ratio taken into consideration. Since the catchment area o f the prevailing majority o f streams feeding Lake Inari is composed o f rocks o f the Lapland granulite belt (LGB) and its framing, it will be the main sample (conditional influence o f their composition on the chemical composition o f waters is about 80 %). The second sample includes gneisses, migmatites, granite-gneisses, granites and quartz diorites typical for Inari terrane (conventional influence o f their composition on the chemical composition o f waters is about 20 %). It has been found that the chemical composition o f the surface waters is formed by interaction o f precipitation with intrusive, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks o f northern Fennoskandia containing Clarke concentrations o f S, C, F, Zn, Ni, Pb, Cu. It has been shown that due to interactions in the water - rock system the chemical composition o f Lake Inari waters as well as upper and middle flow o f the River Paz is formed by weathering of granulites o f the Lapland granulite belt and Inari terrane granitoids o f the northern Fennoscandia. The chemical composition o f waters in the River Paz downstream is formed by weathering o f metamorphosed volcanic and sedimentary rocks o f the Pechenga structure and the impact o f industrial pollution. Keywords: surface waters, physical-chemical model, Inari terrane, Lapland granulite belt. 260
