The lowest TEQ pah values were obtained, applying TEFs proposed by Klimm et al. (1997), followed by those using TEFs assigned by Willet et al. (1997), and finally, the highest values were obtained, employing TEFs proposed by Clemons et al. (1998). Multiplying the concentrations o f PCDD/F and dioxin-like PCB congeners by the corresponing TEFs (NATO/CCMS, 1988; Ahlborg et al., 1994) and further also the concentrations o f selected PAH analytes by TEFpah proposed by Klimm et al. (1999) allowed calculations o f total TEQ for mixture o f these contaminants in sediment (Tables 2 and 3). Table 10 shows that contributions of PAHs in total TEQ (TEQpah) in all sediment samples make 83-99% and greatly exceed sum of TEQpcdd/f and TEQpcb, even though the lowest values o f TEFpah were used for calculation.
