WALTER SCHUCK Petr Rassadkin. FACTS 4 PETR ALEKSEYEVICH RASSADKIN Petr Alekseyevich Rassadkin was born on 6 July 1921. In 1939 he completed his flight training at a Flight Club in Moscow. Next he immediately joined the Red Army and was posted to the military pilot school Chkalov in Borisoglebsk. When the German attack on the Soviet Union occurred in June 1941, Rassadkin served as a fighter pilot with 438 IAP During the Battle of Moscow, Rassadkin flew a LaGG-3 fighter plane with this unit, based at Lyubertsy aerodrome. In May 1942, Rassadkin was shifted to 255 IAP, which formed part of Leningrad’s air defence. One month later the unit was transferred to the Northen Fleet in the Murmansk area, where it would remain for the rest of the war. Rassadkin would develop into one of 255 IAP’s most skilful fighter pilots. On 14 September 1943 he was credited with the destruction of two Me 109s, which were filed as his 5th and 6th victories. On ЗІМау 1944 he was appointed a Hero of Soviet Union. In total, Petr Rassadkin performed 190 combat missions, leading to 37 air combats and 12 victories. He retired in 1965 with the rank of a Polkovnik. Today he lives in Moscow. T
