WALTER SCHUCK SOURCES The main sources to this book are: * Interviews with Walter Schuck made in 2001-2004. * World War II original documents obtained from Traditionsgemeinschaft JG 5. * Soviet intelligence records. These have been absolutely crucial to the research on this book, since Walter Schuck lost his entire logbook and nearly all other documents related to the war, and his memories of the war were relatively fragmentary. Through listening to the radio communication between the German pilots and the German ground stations, and carefully written recordings of these, the Soviet intelligence got a very good picture of the activities of the Luftwaffe pilots in the Far North. Through these very detailed recordings, it was possible to recreate records of most of Walter Schuck’s air missions in the Far North, and when presented with this material, Schuck could add many interesting details.
