The records of Karelian Front Air Force fighter regiments list both individual and shared victories. Shared victories were usually attributed to all members of the participating group. They were not shared as fractions, which meant that some pilots appeared to have achieved particularly high scores. 760th IAP's Snr Lt A I Nikolaenkov, for example, is listed as having scored eight individual and 23 shared kills. The financial reward for shooting down an enemy aircraft was shared evenly between the pilots in the group concerned. In an engagement on 21 February 1942, for example, the pilots of 760th IAP (Capt Korolev, Snr Lts Zhgun and Krupskiy, Lts Nikolaenkov and Polyakov and Snr Sgt Snig) reported that they had shot down four Bf 109s. The total award for four aircraft shot down, 4000 roubles, was shared between them, with each pilot receiving 666 roubles * * * Victories attributed to 122nd IAD pilots are based on operational reports, so the number of shared victories is not clear, as in some cases not all the names of the participants in a particular combat were given HURRICANE AIRFIELDS Airfield Period Unit Northern FleetAir Force Vaenga-1/2 10/41 to 10/43 2nd GKAP, 78th IAP Kildin 5-12/43 27th IAP Pummanki 6-11/43 one squadron of 78th 122nd IAD of the Air Defence Forces Arktika 3/42 to 1/44 767th and 768th IAP Shonguy 1/42 to 4/44 768th and 769th IAP Rosta 2-7/43 769th IAP (periodical!’ Beloe More 1-9/43 966th IAP 7th AirArmy (Karelian FrontAir Force* Afrikanda 5-11/42 609th IAP Murmashi 1-5/42 147th IAP, later 20th 1 Beloe More 1-4/42 760th IAP 5-12/42 435th IAP Boyarskaya 5/42 to 11/43 760th IAP Gremyakha 7/42 to 12/42 835th IAP 3-7/43 152nd IAP Kirovsk 5-8/42 197th and 837th IAP Loukhi-13km 1-4/42 145th IAP 12/42 to 12/43 435th IAP Letnyaya 11/41 to 4/42 152nd IAP Poduzhemye 3-4/42 767th IAP 4-12/42 17th GShAP Polyarniy Krug 7-11/43 152nd IAP Segezha 1-4/42 609th IAP 4/42 to 2/43 152nd IAP * 7th Air Army regiments could be temporarily based at any of the following airfields for two to three weeks, and this mostly affected 145th (later 19th GIAP), 152nd, 609th and 760th IAP and 17th GShAP © Osprey Publishing • www.ospreypublishing.com
