At the beginning of October he was posted to 2nd GKAP and on the 13th of that month was awarded the title of HSU. He also received a Gold Star as well as the Order of Lenin by order of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet. By the end of the year Sgibnev’s achievements had been recognised by the Allies, and he received a British DFC.
