Преподобный Трифон Печенгский, апостол лопарей = The venerable Tryphon of Pechenga, apostle of the lapps = Pyhittäjä Trifon Petsamolainen, saamelaisten valistaja = Den aerverdige Trifon av Petsjenga, samenes apostel / [под редакцией епископа Митрофана (Баданина)]. - Санкт-Петербург ; Североморск : Ладан, 2017. - 44, [1] с.

The enlightener’s labours were long and exhausting. The midnight lands o f the charmed Pohjola, the ancient magic cove, only abandoned the pagan dark ness o f their godlessness reluctantly and with resistance. "In this Christian mission the holy man o f g o o d will laboured f o r many y ea rs”. In 1533, with the blessing o f Saint Makary o f Novgorod, Mitrofan built for his Lapps their first church, on the spot where the River Mana flows into the Pechenga River. "T h at holy church was consecrated by the hieromonk Elijah". The hieromonk Ely had been sent by Archbishop Makary and also pre pared and tonsured Mitrofan: “And through this sam e hieromonk Elijah our Venerable F ather Tryphon was m ade in his spirit and heart a tonsured schem am onk’’. Soon the first Lappish monastery was founded next to the Holy Trinity Church. The natives o f Lapland found a beneficial example o f sacrificial love in the person o f the Venerable Tryphon. While the elder treated his physically short spiritual children with kindness and infinite patience, he remained a mighty warrior who was impla cable and pitiless to the many uninvited guests who came to rob and offend them. Sixteen years in the life o f this remarkable monastery were spent in labouring, fasting and prayer. But then, in about 1549, “rebel” monks from the Kola monastery, who were unhappy with the strict ness o f the monastic rule, expelled their abbot, the Venerable Theo- doret, and moved from Kola to the estuary o f the Pechenga River.
