In relation to their diet and foraging m ethods, they p refer different habitats. Large raptors Large raptors considerably vary in th e ir habitat use, diet, and foraging methods. The Osprey inhabits shores o f rivers, lakes, swamps and o th e r freshwater reser voirs (Fig. 2.3). This raptor forages almost exclusively on fish. In the study area the main prey o f the Osprey is mainly relatively small cisco, grayling, bull tro u t and other fish species (Semenov-T ian-Shansky & Gilyazov 1991). When foraging. Ospreys circle above the water; when they notice prey, they swoop and grab it. T he Osprey lives on the coasts o f rivers and lakes and feeds mainly on fish.
