Comparative analysis o f behaviour and ecology o f Yellow Wagtails and Meadow Pipits makes it possible to find the difference in the structure o f their eco ­ logical niches and understand the mechanisms that allow their co-existence. Yellow Wagtails prefer more flat and open bog areas and take the food from the surface. The birds often capture mobile airborne insects by flushing and pursuing them in the air. Meadow Pipits, on the contrary, occur in more closed hummock-rich areas. The field o f vision here is restricted, and the birds look for immobile invertebrates E.l.
