The Siberian Tit is one o f the most ch aracteristic birds o f the boreal forest. may easily hop on the boughs along the trunk. Short branches and needles allow the bird to inspect the horizontal space, and part o f the vertical space above and below it. When the bird finds a prey item, it picks it or extracts it from its shelter. The main foraging substrate is the trunk and inner surface o f the branches. If the bird finds food in the middle or apical part of a branch, it makes a series o f hops along the branch or gets the prey by a short flight. When foraging in the outer part o f the crown, the Siberian Tit hops upwards on the apical parts o f the branches carrying needles, picks insects from the needles and extracts seeds from the cones.
