Shoot - the main organ of a higher plant, above-ground. There are vegetative (stem with leaves and buds) and generative ( flowers, inflorescences) shoots. Shrub - a plant life-form-, a perennial plant with multiple woody shoots but, in contrast to a tree, it has several trunks branching from or near the ground (e.g. willow, rowan, bird cherry). In terms of height, shrubs can be tall (higher than 2.5 m), medium-high (1-1.25 m) and low (up to 1.0 m). Stamen - the male part of a flower, made up of filament and anthers, bears pollen (plant’s male sexual cells). Stem - the vegetative organ connecting the root and leaves. Stems can be erect, creeping (a wide variety of types) and with short internodes (e.g. dandelion). Stigma - the part of a flower’s pistil which receives the pollen during pollination. Tree - a plant life-form-, a perennial plant with a well-developed woody trunk, either forked or unforked, 2-5 m and higher (e.g. pine, spruce, birch, aspen). Vegetative bud - a bud from which vegetative organs develop. Vegetative organs of a plant - a majority of higher plants have a differentiation into the vegetative organs root, shoot (comprising stem and leaves). 1 7 0 ......................................Фенологический атлас растений.
