He passed away on the 5th of March, 1956, at the age of 78, in a small town Kragera (south-west of Oslo). His works occupy the well-deserved place in sci ence. His family carefully keeps the memories of their famous ancestor. But the best Schaanning’s memorial is the joint Russian-Norwegian Reserve Pasvik. 156
