Полярные кладовые хранят синие корунды, хризолиты, турмалины, бериллы, гранаты, кианиты, аметист, дым ­ чатый кварц и морион, амазонит, эвдиалит, тингуаит, циркон, другое камнесамоцветное сырье, исполь­ зуемое для изготовления ювелирных украшений и сувениров. Проживание на Кольском полу­ острове коренного малочисленного народа Севера - саамов, а также по ­ моров и коми-ижемцев с их традици­ онными промыслами, своеобразной техникой и приемами декоративно­ прикладного искусства, разнообразие запасов природных цветных камней во многом определили развитие на­ родных художественных промыслов региона. The fact that Kola Peninsula is in­ habited by the indigenous people - the Sami, Pomors and Komi-Izhems with their traditional craft, as well as peculiar technique and methods of decorative and applied arts, the diversity of the natural gemstones, has determined the development of the folk art crafts of the region. Inhabitants and numerous guests of the region are attracted by bright original pieces of creative work of the Sami craftsmen: headdresses, clothes, footwear, household items, women’s jewelry, decorative ornaments, instru­ ments, and accessories.
