Hydrobiological studies No direct hydrobiological investigations have been carried out in this lake. According to earlier studies (Yakovlev et al., 1991), the lakes near the “Pechenganikel” smelter have low biodiversity levels. The dominant species are chironomids, water-bugs and beetles. Dwarf burbot (Lota lota) should most probably also be present. 1.11. LAKE PIKKU-HEYNJAJARVI Lake Pikku-Heynjajarvi (watershed of the river Pechenga) is located 15 km to the east of the town of Zapolyarny and 17 km to the south of the settlement of Pechenga.
