The Reserve belongs to biogeographic province of the Lapponia petsamoensis (Lps) (Cajander, 1906; Uotila, 2013). Most of the territory is covered by forests (51.7 %). About 90 % of the wooded area is occupied by pine forests (Pinus sylvestris ); 10% - by birch forests (of Betula subarctica). Aspen ( Populus tremula) and alder ( Alnus incana ) are mainly found in mixture with them. The altitude zones are well expressed on Kalkupya Mt. The foot is covered by a pine forest and, higher up (200 m alt.), by a crooked birch forest wedging out on the slopes. The upper part of the slopes and summits is occupied by mountain tundra. About 23.1% of the Pasvik Reserve area is occupied by mires. Due to different forms of relief and bedrocks the mires are highly varied, with predominant ombrotrophic hollow ridge bogs and hollow ridge bogs with secondary pools. Lapland aapa mires, mesotrophic sedge- Sphagnum mires and eutrophic mires also occur (Kuznetsov, Kutenkov, 2013). Meadows account for 0.5 % of the Reserve and are of a secondary origin. Anthropogenic habitats (roadsides, etc.) occur as well. Мурманская государственная областная универсальная научная библиотека
