*** The bryophyte flora of the Pasvik Reserve comprises 114 liverwort species and 197 species of mosses. In spite of the small area, the bryophyte flora can be considered as rich. The three Reserves in the Murmansk Region (Kandalakshsky, Laplandsky, Pasvik) differ in area, bu t they contribute greatly to the conservation of the region’s bryophyte species diversity - 57.7, 65.0, and 45.3 %, respectively. The Laplandsky Reserve has a maximum area but the number of species per unit area is minimal (liverworts - 0.06; mosses - 0.10), while the Pasvik Reserve with a minimum area exhibits the maximum number of species per unit area (liverworts - 1.01; mosses - 1.75). New findings of some very rare species have added to our knowledge of the species distribution pattern in the Murmansk Region. Tayloria serrata and Stereodon pallescens are known in the Murmansk Region only from the Pasvik Reserve. Calycularia laxa and Oleolophozia perssonii are recorded for the second time in the Murmansk Region and one liverwort ( Mannia pilosa) and three mosses ( Encalypta streptocarpa, Dicranum laevidens, Tayloria splachnoides ) found in the Reserve, have been previously recorded in the Region two times only. 24 liverwort species and 106 species of mosses have been found in the vicinity of the Reserve (Korablekk Nature Park). Five species (Dicranum groenlandicum, Grimmia incurva, Schistidium submuticum, Sphagnum annulatum, Stereodon bambergeri) are not recorded in the Pasvik Reserve.
