The race w ill soon begin for all the »Karelians« and »Fishers.« My method isn’t scientific, the pace of my ancestors is simple. Ahead of me, I hear the sounds of »Fishers« crunching through the snow. I whisper, like a magic spell, syllable by syllable: »On my own spruce skis, I won’t let them gain a single meter!« Now the slope steepens, ahead is Ella-Vueiv, the path is hot and desperate, wind, do not barge into the race! The passion o f the skis cannot be cooled by a snowstorm. On the ski-slope, plastic competes with good old Karelian wood. Let the slopes judge us in their own way.
