2 5 Birch-tree Heights do not remember time, proud and monumental. Trails of ancient winds run through them, scarcely different from a stone. Friendly rain rinses them, the clouds playfully wrap around them. Stormy winters blow through, leaving snow on the steeps. The birch intertwines its roots behind the ledge of rocks. The winds do not venture to whisper with her, she is not known for being beautiful. We love her for her valor: wind and biting frost heave and retch in vain to break her hardy disposition. The Polar winter perseveres, and w ith the song o f mournful rivers, the leaves set forth victoriously to meet the long-awaited spring.
