Development of marine investigations starting from the organization of the Murmansk Biological Station in 1935 and up to nowadays is shown in the articles of the book. Historical essays of investigations and analysis of their modern state on the following directions: geology and paleogeology of the seas, physical geogra phy, development of marine information technologies; marine biology (plankton, benthos, algae, fish fauna, sea birds and mammals investigations); anthropogenic ecology of the seas, marine nature exploitation are presented. The collection of papers is supposed for the marine biologists, oceanologists, and for a wide range of the readers interested in the history of science and actual problems of marine investigations.
